In celebration of our 50,000-strong community and our First Month Milestone, here’s an illustration I made for the JapanLover.Me team, Kaila (aka. The Rainbowholic), Chichi (aka. Little Miss Paintbrush) and myself!

It didn’t take too long before I made mermaid versions of ourselves, did it? I obviously found it hard to resist!

Am I? I don’t really think I am though. (*´∀`*)

Yeah :) i saw it last year in London and completely loved it. Haha i didn't want to seem like "EH HELLO... YOURE SAYING IT WRONG!!!" just thought it'd be helpful to know. Whilst Ghibli is an Italian word pronounced with a hard G in Italian, when naming the studio Miyazaki mistakenly chose to pronounce it with a soft G but by the time they realised it was too late and already official. wow really seem like a know it all now ;)

Thanks! Honestly, I just went with whatever felt natural to me. Although, you’re right, Japanese pronunciation would be a “ji” sound. :) Have you seen Poppy Hill? :)

I had the great opportunity of seeing a Studio Ghibli film in a cinema for the first tim! Of course I took it. From Up on Poppy Hill is their new release in America. It was directed by Hayao Miyazaki’s son, Goro.

I’ll talk more about the film soon. In the meantime, I made about it for my “webseries” I’ve titled Paintings in My Gallery: here
